Why Our Loved Ones Come Back Through a Medium

I have often thought about why our loved ones come back through a medium and what it is that brings them back to communicate with those they have left behind.

For me, the answer has always come back to one thing: love.

I believe that when we pass from this physical world, we do not cease to exist. The physical body dies, but the soul, the spirit and the personality that made us who we are continue to live on. We do not suddenly become somebody different simply because we have left the physical body behind. We are still ourselves, with our memories, our experiences, our characteristics and the love we hold for those who remain here.

When somebody we love passes away, we are left with the physical absence of that person. We can no longer see them sitting in their favourite chair, hear their voice in the next room or reach out and hold their hand. We are left with memories of the life we shared and, often, a deep longing to know that they are still there somewhere.

It is my belief that our loved ones are aware of the love that continues between us. They know when they are missed, and I believe that one of the reasons they come back through a medium is to offer evidence that their life has continued beyond the death of the physical body.

This is why evidence is so important in mediumship. It is not simply about saying that somebody is present in the spirit world. It is about providing information that can help the person receiving the communication recognise who that loved one is. It might be a memory, a particular characteristic, something they used to say, or an experience shared between them. These details can help bring the personality of that individual back into the awareness of the person sitting in front of the medium.

For me, this is where the real meaning of mediumship lies. It is in the recognition that the person being communicated with is not just a name or a memory, but somebody who had a life, a personality and a relationship with the person they have left behind.

I believe our loved ones come back to demonstrate that they continue to exist and that the relationship we shared with them has not simply ended. Their physical presence may be gone, but the bond that connected us remains.

Grief is a very personal journey, and nothing can take away the pain of losing somebody we love. We each have to find our own way through that experience. However, I believe that the evidence received through mediumship can sometimes bring comfort, reassurance and a different understanding of what death means.

It does not mean that we stop missing our loved ones. It does not mean that we no longer wish they were here beside us. It means that we may begin to understand that their absence from our physical world does not necessarily mean the end of our relationship with them.

The bond of love is something I believe continues beyond the physical life. Love is not something that can be measured by what we see or touch. It is something we experience, something that becomes part of us and something that remains meaningful long after a person has passed away.

I believe that this bond of love is what draws our loved ones back to us. They come forward through a medium to offer evidence of their continued existence, to remind us of the connection we shared and to reassure us that the life we knew with them is not the whole story.

For me, there is also something important to consider about the physical body itself. We spend our lives identifying ourselves and others through our physical appearance, yet the body is only the physical form through which we experience our time on earth. When that body reaches the end of its life, I believe the spirit is released from it and returns home to the spirit world.

The body eventually returns to dust, but I believe the soul continues its journey.

And perhaps this is one of the most important things that mediumship can help us to consider: that we are more than our physical bodies and that our time here on earth may be one part of a much greater existence.

I believe that one day, when our own physical journey comes to an end, we will return to the spirit world and be reunited with those we have loved. This is a belief that brings me comfort, and it is one of the reasons I feel that mediumship has such meaning.

Our loved ones do not come back because they want us to remain in our grief. I believe they come back because the connection between us still matters. They come to remind us of who they are, of the love we shared and of the possibility that death is not the end of our existence.

We cannot change the fact that the physical body will eventually die, nor can we prevent the sadness that comes with losing somebody dear to us. But perhaps we can begin to look at death differently, not simply as an ending, but as a transition from one form of existence to another.

For me, the message at the heart of mediumship is that love does not end when the physical body dies. It continues in the memories we carry, in the connection we feel and, as I believe, in the ongoing relationship between this world and the spirit world.

The physical body may return to dust, but the spirit lives on. And the bond of love that connects us to those we hold dear is never broken.
