When You Change the Way You See Life, Life Begins to Change

Over time, I've come to realise just how much the way we look at life can change the way we live it.

Sometimes, we can get so caught up in the things that haven't gone right, the people who have hurt us, the disappointments we've faced and the struggles we've had to get through, that we forget to stop and look at all the good things life has to offer us.

I think we can all fall into that trap at times. We find ourselves asking, Why does this happen to me? Why do I have to struggle? Why isn't that person my friend? Why does everything seem to go wrong?

And before we know it, we're spending so much time focusing on the negatives that we almost forget to see the positives.

But I've come to believe that there's another way to look at things. Instead of always asking why something happened to us, perhaps we should start asking what we can learn from it. How can we grow from it? What has this experience taught us, and how can we use it to move forward in a better, more positive way?

Because life isn't always going to be easy. We can't change everything that happens to us, and we certainly can't change how other people behave towards us. But we can change how we choose to see things, how we respond to them, and the energy we carry with us each day.

And sometimes, that one change in perspective can make all the difference.

Moving from the Darkness into the Light

When we spend our time living in negativity, thinking negatively and expecting the worst, we can become so used to that way of thinking that it becomes our normal. We begin to look for what's wrong rather than what's right, and we can end up missing so much of the beauty that surrounds us.

But what happens when we begin to change that way of thinking?

What happens when we stop looking at everything through the eyes of hurt, disappointment and negativity, and start looking through the eyes of love, gratitude and hope?

We begin to see life differently.

We start noticing the little things that bring us joy. We appreciate the people who genuinely care about us. We become more grateful for what we have, rather than constantly focusing on what we haven't got. We begin to see opportunities where before we only saw obstacles.

And isn't that a beautiful way to live?

I'm not saying that we should pretend everything is wonderful when it isn't. We all have difficult days. We all experience hurt, loss, disappointment and times when we struggle to understand why certain things have happened in our lives.

But we have a choice in how we allow those experiences to shape us.

We can hold on to the hurt and allow it to weigh us down, or we can try to learn from it, grow through it and find a way to move forward. We don't have to allow yesterday's pain to decide how we live today.

Sometimes, moving into the light begins with something as simple as changing the question we ask ourselves.

Instead of saying, Why does everything happen to me? we can ask, What can I learn from this?

Instead of asking, Why has this person hurt me? we can ask, How can I protect my peace and move forward without carrying that hurt with me?

And instead of constantly thinking about what's missing from our lives, we can begin to appreciate what's already there.

Like Attracts Like

I truly believe that the energy we put out into the world matters.

If we're constantly thinking negatively, speaking negatively and approaching life expecting the worst, that negativity can begin to affect how we feel, how we behave and how we interact with the people around us.

But when we begin to think positively, act with kindness, show love and look for the good in situations, we create a very different energy around ourselves.

Like attracts like.

When we choose to live with more love, gratitude, kindness and positivity, we open ourselves up to experiencing more of those things. We often find ourselves noticing the good in people, building healthier connections and recognising opportunities we might previously have overlooked.

The energy we carry affects the energy we share with others.

Of course, we can't control everything that happens to us, and we certainly can't control how other people think, feel or behave. But we can control how we respond.

We can choose whether we allow someone else's negativity to take away our peace, or whether we decide that our happiness is too important to let it do so.

We can choose to answer anger with calmness, unkindness with dignity and disappointment with the determination to keep moving forward.

And that, to me, is where the real change begins.

It starts with us.

Look for the Beauty in Every Day

Sometimes, I think we're so busy waiting for something big to happen that we forget how much beauty there is in the little things.

It's in the smile from a stranger, the phone call from someone we love, the laughter we share with family and friends, the beauty of nature, or simply having a quiet moment to ourselves.

We don't always need something extraordinary to happen to find happiness. Sometimes, happiness is already there, waiting for us to notice it.

When we start looking at life with a more positive outlook, we begin to appreciate these moments in a way we might not have done before.

We become more aware of the love around us. We learn to value the people who bring goodness into our lives. We begin to understand that although we may not have control over every situation, we do have a say in the attitude we carry through it.

And the more we practise looking for the good, the easier it can become to recognise it.

It doesn't mean we'll never have a bad day or feel hurt again. We're human, after all. But it does mean we don't have to allow every difficult experience to take us back into that dark place of negative thinking.

We can acknowledge the hurt, learn what we need to learn and then choose to keep moving towards the light.

So, What Will You Choose?

The next time life throws something at you that leaves you asking, Why me? try asking yourself a different question.

What can I take from this? What can I learn? And how can I move forward in a more positive way?

You might be surprised at how much your outlook begins to change.

Because when you stop looking at life through the eyes of fear, hurt and negativity, and start looking at it through the eyes of love, hope and possibility, you begin to see a whole different world.

The beauty was always there. The love was always there. The opportunities for joy were always there.

Perhaps you just needed to change the way you were looking at them.

So, choose the light. Choose love. Choose kindness. Choose to see the good, even when life isn't quite how you hoped it would be.

And remember, you don't have to change the whole world to make a difference to your life. Sometimes, all you need to change is the way you see it.

Change your thinking, change your energy, and begin to change your life.
