Mediumship Matters 3 - Why Evidence Is the Heart of Mediumship

During the last insight, we explored the true purpose of mediumship: to bring comfort to those who are grieving by demonstrating that life continues beyond physical death.

This week, I want to talk about something that I believe sits at the very heart of mediumship—evidence.

Evidence is what makes mediumship different from simply offering kind words or general guidance. It is through evidence that those in the spirit world show us they are still living, still aware, and still connected with those they love.

Good evidence is recognisable. It may include a person's personality, the way they spoke, their sense of humour, their occupation, treasured memories, family relationships, or the unique qualities that made them who they were. It is these details that allow the recipient to say, "Yes, that's my mam," or, "That's exactly how my dad was."

A message without evidence can be comforting, but evidence gives the message its meaning and its value.

As developing mediums, we should always ask ourselves, "Have I given enough evidence for this person in spirit to be recognised before I move on to the message?"

The message is important, but it should never come before establishing who the communicator is.

This is why development takes time. Learning to recognise, understand, and communicate evidence clearly is a skill that grows through patience, practice, and experience. There are no shortcuts.

One of the greatest lessons I have learned is that the spirit world will always do its part. Our responsibility is to develop ourselves so that we can interpret and communicate that evidence with clarity, honesty, and compassion.

Every sitting and every demonstration is an opportunity to bring comfort to someone who may have been waiting a very long time to know that their loved one is still with them.

Never underestimate the importance of evidence.

It is the bridge that allows the world of spirit to say, "I am still here."
